The Hy-Ten Shear Stud Rail is a quick and efficient shear reinforcement solution that replaces traditional time consuming hook and bob shear links.
It is a twin rail system, which acts as carrier to assist in the correct positioning of the shear studs.
Punching shear is a result of high point loads or concentrated shear forces transferred to columns. If not addressed a failure to the slab around the columns may occur. This failure may result in cracking of the slab or at worst a penetration of the column into the floor plate. To combat such highly stressed areas a shear solution is provided to spread the forces around the perimeter of the column.
Hy-Ten’s Shear Stud Rail System is installed by dropping and tying the twin rails over the top reinforcement as per a location plan which is provided for each area.
To provide shear stud rail solution’s, Hy-Ten require: the column key plan, slab thickness, top /bottom cover, column loads and top reinforcement details.
Once this information is received we can produce calculations and shear stud rail location plans, these are sent to the
consulting engineer for checking. Once approved, shear stud rails can be manufactured and sent to site within 5 working days. |
