  Introduction to the HT Coupler & Process

The HT Coupler is a CARES approved friction welded coupler. Hy-Ten is the exclusive UK & Ireland supplier of HT Couplers.

The HT range consists of 3 types of coupler - the HT(S) Standard Coupler and the HT(P) & HT(EP) Positional Couplers. The HT(S) type is CARES approved in diameters 12-50mm and the HT(P) & HT(EP) types are CARES approved in diameters 16-50mm.

The HT(S) is used where at least 1 bar is rotatable. The HT(P) is used where neither bar is rotatable and atleast 1 bar is moveable. The HT(EP) is used where neither bar is rotable or moveable.

All 3 types of HT Coupler can be used not only where the 2 bars are of the same diameter, but also where the 2 bars are of different diameter (i.e. transitional joints).

The HT Manufacturing Process:  
The HT Coupler heads are produced and threaded in a dedicated production facility using CNC lathes. This results in a high quality product with more accurate & consistent threads than can be achieved through the rebar threading required by other systems.

The HT Coupler heads are welded onto the appropriate rebars using the computer controlled HT Friction Welder. This process is much faster than the threading of rebars required by other systems.

QUALITY, COST & LEAD TIME

The HT Friction Welder:

The friction welding of the HT couplers is carried out at our Liverpool and Newark factories. Our Liverpool factory operates an HT50 Friction Welder which is capable of welding up to 50mm diameter bars and couplers. Our Newark factory operates an HT32 Friction Welder which is capable of welding up to 32mm diameter bars and couplers.
